Challenge
A Thirst for Knowledge
For its new Student Village study lounge, Boston University wanted to create an atmosphere to promote interaction, fuel creative problem solving, and most importantly, attract students to use the space.

They needed a furniture solution that would:
  • Accommodate multiple users
  • Allow for easy individualization
  • Provide access to technology
  • Fit a limited, columned space

Solution
Where Form and Function Meet
Through a detailed bidding process, Boston Universitychose Hum. Minds at Work for their study areas. Hum provided a relaxed, comfortable environment where students could share ideas, get feedback from study partners, and maximize their valuable study time.

Furnishings include:
  • Hum. Minds at Work system
  • Approach seating

The Perfect Study Environment
The University expects the Hum workstations in their new student residential building to be immediately popular, because of careful observation of how university students work and study. "The way students work today is a lot of collaboration; a lot of group projects are done. Kids are taught to work in an unconfined manner, and I think that's why these particular Hum stations are perfect." says Amy Mclellan, Interior Designer and Consultant, Boston University.
