Design Challenge
Company founder Joseph Vilella is an artist, as well as inventor of Vectron's flagship
technology. He wanted furniture that appealed to both his artistic and inventive
sides. "I love modern art and architecture, by which I mean classic modern,
like Frank Lloyd Wright," says Vilella. "That's the style I paint in,
too."
The open loft with wood beamed ceilings and painted concrete floors called for clean,
contemporary furnishings that would reflect the company's unique culture. The space
also had to accommodate both private and open workspaces, and common areas.
The Kimball Office Solution
Xsite systems and Definition casegoods were chosen for their clean, modern aesthetics
and compatible designs.
Xsite's width adjustability made it easy to fit the fixed space and work around
columns. The designer took advantage of Xsite's independent tile placement and stackability,
using bold colors and varied tile sizes to create a playful, "Mondrion" look.
The sleek appearance and advanced functionality of Definition casegoods made it
a natural choice for the private offices. Specified in coordinating finishes and
options, Kimball Office Tables and Conferencing Solutions, Skye seating and sleek
Bingo chairs completed the installation.
The end result is a complementary background for the art and a fitting look for
the company's fast-paced work style. "The space has flair," Vilella says.
