At Kimball Office, sustainability is viewed as a never ending journey. We are proud of our stewardship and are committed to continued
sustainable business practices that will enhance the value offered to our customers and employees.
These practices simultaneously balance benefits to shareholders, society and the environment. Kimball Office believes that the measure of our success will be based on our strategic approach to sustainability based on People, Product and Process.
Our roadmap towards sustainability as a three-prong strategy includes:
People:
- Ensure sustainability is a clearly stated Kimball Office value, as communicated by our stakeholders and included in employee training and education across the organization.
- Build facilities and perform facility renovations meeting the USGBC LEED Green Building Rating Standardâ„¢, to enhance the health of our employees and guests while conserving energy and eliminating waste.
- Contribute continued leadership and resources to industry and government partnerships, such as USGBC (US Green Building Council), EPA programs and BIFMA, which are committed to long-term comprehensive environmental strategies.

Product:
- Design new products utilizing DfE, Design for the Environment Protocol, considering the environmental impact of product design in the development and design processes.
- Maintain the highest level of product performance attributes for indoor air quality for healthy workplaces certified to environmental standards of USGBC LEED and BIFMA FES (Furniture Emissions Standard).
- Implement Forest Stewardship Council Certification on materials and chain-of-custody processes for our products, contributing towards LEED building certification for our customers.
- Proactively respond to market drivers for the benefits of material conservation, content and use of recycled content in development of all new product development or product enhancements.
Process:
- Maintain our ISO 14001 certification, the standard primarily concerned with actions to minimize harmful affects on the environment for all manufacturing facilities, building upon each facilities current ISO 9001 certified Environmental Management System.
- Encourage innovation through recognition of continued legacy of lean manufacturing practices supporting sustainability.
- Develop sustainability strategies, implementation plans, and incentives with our vendors and supply chain partners
